NEXT SHIFT: 23rd & 30th November 2024 10pm -4am. CALL US ON 07761308793
Established in May 2022 Oxford City Angels are a voluntary run female-focused support team working in partnership with Thames Valley Police, Oxford City Council and Nightsafe Oxford during the night-time economy.
Our primary and priority function is to support the safety and security of women and girls at night. We deliver this through proactive high visibility patrols and engagement on Saturday nights and Sunday mornings between 22:00 and 04:00.
Our DBS checked volunteers have been trained in Bystander Intervention Against Sexual Harassment, Conflict Management and Safer De-escalation and First Aid.
During a shift our teams will be deployed either on foot or in a vehicle patrolling the Cowley Road area and the City Centre. Our volunteers will proactively engage with a vulnerable person and offer immediate support in order to reduce the risk of harm. Volunteers will deploy a variety of measures to assist a person in need:

We are a small team with limited resources. Saturday is the busiest night of the week for the night-time economy so we concentrate our efforts there. As the organisation grows and more resources become available we will consider increasing our operational days.
Although our primary and priority focus is to support the safety and security of women, our volunteers will assist and support anyone in need during a shift. Approximately 30% of our service users are male.
Yes. Our uniform consists of a black carriage vest, orange hi-vis jacket, black trousers and black boots. Our uniform will have the OCA logo printed on. All of our volunteers can be verified by calling the shift Team Leader on 07761 308 793.
We are funded by grants and community donations and sponsorship. We receive no on-going funding from the local authority.
Currently all but one of our volunteers are female. This reflects the female-focused nature of our work. We have no plans to introduce male volunteers in the future.
